About The Organisation

NHS Lanarkshire is comprised of Acute Services (which currently provide hospital based services over 3 main sites), Corporate & Property & Support Services, North and South Lanarkshire Health and Social Care Partnerships which provide integrated primary healthcare and social care services to local communities and surrounding areas.

The Role

NHS Lanarkshire is pleased to offer a number of Assistant Practitioner positions across our three Acute Sites, and in the Community. We are currently recruiting for roles across a range of clinical areas.

This opportunity includes a tailored educational programme developed in collaboration with New College Lanarkshire and South Lanarkshire College. This will entail that you will attend college.

As an Assistant Practitioner, your responsibilities will include.

Working as an integral member of the healthcare team under the guided by registered Nursing Practitioners.
Supporting patients in achieving their healthcare and rehabilitation goals.
Assisting in the delivery of evidence-based care through involvement in the planning , implementation, delivery and evaluation of patient care.
Undertaken initial assessments within clearly defined parameters for the relevant care area.
Applying specialist technical and practical skills to deliver flexible, patient-centred, safe and effective care.

Successful candidates will be appointed to Band 4 salary under an Annex 21 training payment of 75% (£25,727 per annum) scale whilst undergoing the one year training programme. Upon successful completion of training, candidates will then move onto Band 4 (£31,537 - £34,303) per annum scale.

Training is deemed successfully completed upon attainment of the Professional Development Award (PDA) at college and the formal sign-off of the required practice-based competency frameworks.

Interviews for this post will be held on the 07/07/2026

Start Date for this post will be start of August 2026.

In this key role, you will:

Apply knowledge and skills, gained through formal training, in relation to direct patient care in support of and supervised by a registered NMAHP practitioner, ensuring delivery of high quality of care,
Delivers direct patient care with compassion, to a delegated clinical caseload of patients whose treatment follows a clear plan of care / clinical protocol.
Obtains consent for interventions or investigations.
Effectively monitors the patient’s condition, recognising and changes / deterioration in their physical or mental condition and liaises with the registered NMAHP practitioner in a timely manner to review and reassess care / treatment needs
Plan and prioritise patient care within delegated caseload, and contribute to care planning and review.

What You'll Bring:

Formal qualification at HNC Level or equivalent level of experience in a health / education / social care environment plus short specialist courses relevant to specific clinical area.
Awareness of health legislation relevant to the clinical area.
Knowledge of the clinical speciality/area process, techniques and / or activities relevant to client group.
Ability to apply a range of technical and practical skills.
A driving licence is required; this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence.
