About the role
We are looking for experienced dog trainers to support families and assistance dogs in the Aberdeen area with potential opportunities to support families in other parts of Scotland.
This is a flexible freelance role. Assignments are offered as needed, and you can accept or decline work depending on your availability. Hours vary depending on client need and location. There are no guaranteed minimum hours. The role involves visiting client homes, supporting families, and helping assistance dogs develop the skills they need for daily life.
Travel expenses are reimbursed, including agreed driving time and mileage.
Key duties
Deliver dog training sessions, including foundation obedience, socialisation, public access skills, and assistance dog task training.
Support families in client homes by teaching handlers how to work with, care for, and communicate with their assistance dog.
Help puppies and dogs settle into new homes and support families during the early stages of the placement.
Follow the Autism Assistance Dogs Charity training methods, safeguarding requirements, and animal welfare standards.
Requirements
Experience in dog training is essential. Experience with assistance dogs, service dogs, or working with families would be an advantage.
A strong understanding of positive, reward-based training methods.
A commitment to high standards of animal welfare.
A valid UK driving licence, access to your own vehicle, and business motor insurance.
Willingness to travel to client homes and occasionally to charity hubs in Congleton, Cheshire, or Louth, Lincolnshire.
Pay: £50.00 per hour
