Environmental Consultant Internship
Location: Based in Inverness (with travel to project sites as required)
Duration: July 2026 – December 2026 (6 months fixed term)
Hours: 35 hours per week
Salary: £29,500 pro rata
About the Internship
In partnership with Peatland ACTION, ADLnature is offering a 6-month paid internship. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain practical experience in a rapidly growing sector that plays a vital role in tackling climate change and enhancing biodiversity.
The intern will receive hands-on training in peatland restoration, project design, GIS, data analysis, and field survey techniques. They will also develop valuable skills in stakeholder engagement, project management, and professional reporting, while working to Peatland ACTION standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Support planning and delivery of peatland restoration projects
- Conduct peatland and ecological surveys, including peat depth and habitat monitoring
- Assist with GIS mapping, digitising and analysing spatial data for reporting
- Liaise with landowners, contractors, and statutory organisations
- Contribute to feasibility studies, project documentation, and funding applications
- Monitor restoration outcomes and support project evaluation
Person Specification
We are looking for someone who is:
- Educated to HND level (or equivalent) in environmental science, ecology, geography, or a related field
- Interested in pursuing a career in the environmental sector
- Familiar with GIS software and data capture techniques
- A confident communicator, able to build positive relationships with stakeholders
- Safety-conscious and comfortable working in remote, upland environments
- Holder of a full, valid UK driver’s licence (essential for travel to project sites)
Skills You’ll Develop
