The role:
Inverclyde HSCP has an opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated Community Staff Nurse to join their team. The school nursing service operates an open access service to families and communities within home, community and primary care settings. To promote a healthy lifestyle within the local population, giving particular attention to the identified health needs of the HSCP, and target groups such as school-aged children, young people and vulnerable families. School Nursing works in partnership with children, young people and their carers to develop positive physical and emotional health and wellbeing assisting them to attain their full potential. School Nursing also works in partnership with the wider multi-agency team, e.g., Social Work, Education, Police and Third Sector Organisations to identify and support health and wellbeing needs for a designated population of school-aged children & young people based on the Principles of Getting it Right for Every Child (GIRFEC).
Candidates are required to be qualified, currently registered nurses who have a degree qualification and are prepared to undertake post-graduate SCPHN training
You need to have a live NMC UK pin in order to be considered for this post and be prepared to undertake postgraduate SCPHN training.

Monday to Thursday, 08:30 to 16:30, Friday 08:30 to 16:00
Key responsibilities:
- Deliver person-centred nursing care to children, young people and families within community education and home settings

Support the School Nurse in assessing, planning and implementing evidence-based programmes of care

Work in partnership with families, schools, colleagues and multi-agency partners to identify and address health needs
-
Maintain accurate, timely clinical records in line with NHSGGC and NMC standards
-
Promote health improvement, prevention and early intervention to reduce health inequalities
-
Manage own delegated workload effectively while contributing to team priorities
-
Participate in clinical supervision, practice development, audit and service improvement activity
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
- Registered first-level nurse with current NMC registration

Evidence of ongoing continuing professional development

Strong communication skills with children, young people, families and professionals

Ability to work independently using initiative while contributing effectively to a team

Knowledge of child, family and community health issues, including vulnerability and safeguarding
-
Competence in using IT systems for record keeping, communication, and reporting

Previous experience in community primary care or working with children and families is desirable
