We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health services to a population of over 1.15 million people, and to a wider population of 2.2 million when regional and national services are included.

The role:

Join NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde as a Peer Support Worker within Perinatal Mental Health and use your lived experience to make a meaningful difference to women and families across the West of Scotland. Based within the Mother and Baby Unit, you will support individuals before, during and after hospital care, helping them navigate recovery with compassion, understanding and hope. This is a unique and rewarding role where your personal journey becomes a powerful tool to empower others. You will work as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team, contributing to recovery-focused care that values every individual’s experience. Please be aware that sponsorship is not available on this post.

All other roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

Duration: Permanent

Base Location: Leverndale Hospital

Hours: Part Time (18 hours)

Working Pattern: Mon Sunday shifts variable.

Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part-time hours.

Key responsibilities:

Support individuals to identify and achieve their own personal recovery goals
Build trusting, empathetic relationships with service users and their families
Use lived experience to inspire hope and support recovery journeys in a meaningful way
Assist individuals to overcome barriers and connect with community resources and supports
Accompany patients to appointments, activities and multidisciplinary meetings as required
Contribute to the development of recovery-focused and peer support services within the team

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

Lived experience of perinatal mental health recovery and ability to share this appropriately
Understanding of recovery approaches and factors that support positive mental health outcomes
Experience in a supportive or enabling role with the ability to empower others
Strong communication and active listening skills with a compassionate and respectful approach
Ability to maintain professional boundaries while building therapeutic relationships
Basic IT skills and commitment to ongoing training and personal development
