Overview

About the Role: We are looking for a motivated and customer-focused Customer Support Officer to join our team at Byron Place Shopping Centre in Seaham. This is a dual role position, combining front-facing customer service with additional operational and Security responsibilities to support the smooth day-to-day running of the Centre.

You will play a key role in delivering an excellent visitor experience while also assisting with behind-the-scenes tasks to ensure the Centre operates efficiently.

In this vital role, you will be responsible for maintaining a secure environment by monitoring premises, managing access points, and responding swiftly to incidents. Your proactive approach will help protect assets, ensure the safety of staff and visitors, and uphold the integrity of our operations. This position offers an exciting opportunity to apply your security expertise in a fast-paced, rewarding setting where every day brings new challenges and opportunities to make a difference.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide a warm, friendly, and professional welcome to all visitors
Assist customers with enquiries, directions, and Centre information
Handle customer feedback and resolve issues promptly and effectively
Support retailers and tenants with general queries and communication
Conduct regular checks of public areas to ensure cleanliness, safety, and presentation standards are maintained
Work closely with Management team.
Other Responsibilities
Monitor security cameras (CCTV) and surveillance systems to detect suspicious activity or breaches in real-time.
Control access to the premises by verifying identities of employees, visitors, contractors, and vendors.
Conduct regular patrols of the facility, including entrances, exits, and sensitive areas, to identify potential security risks or hazards.
Respond promptly to alarms, incidents, or emergencies by following established protocols and coordinating with law enforcement or emergency services when necessary.
Manage conflict situations with professionalism and tact, employing conflict management techniques to de-escalate disputes.
Perform first aid and CPR when required, providing immediate assistance in medical emergencies until professional help arrives.
Maintain detailed logs of daily activities, incidents, and security reports to ensure accurate record-keeping for future reference.

Qualifications

Proven experience in security roles or related fields is highly desirable.
Certification in first aid and CPR is preferred; willingness to obtain if not already certified.
Ability to remain alert during long shifts while maintaining professionalism under pressure.
Excellent communication skills for interacting with team members, visitors, and emergency responders.
Physical fitness to perform patrols and respond effectively in emergency situations.
