The Role
We are seeking an organised and proactive individual to join our team as a Engineering Workshop Technician, supporting the effective day-to-day operation of our Engineering workshops. This hands-on role involves preparing workshops, tools, and materials in advance of lessons, ensuring learning environments are safe, well-resourced, and fully compliant with Health & Safety requirements.
The successful candidate will work closely with staff and students, providing practical support during sessions while maintaining and monitoring equipment to a high standard. You will play a key role in promoting a strong culture of safety, keeping workshop spaces clean and organised, and ensuring all activities run smoothly to support an engaging and effective learning experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with monitoring consumable stock levels, including helping with kit allocations and checking deliveries under supervision. Ensure that all items are securely stored when not in use
- Support staff with risk assessments, learning how to identify potential hazards and contribute to safety protocols.
- Help ensure that equipment and machinery are in a safe working condition by conducting basic checks and reporting any defects to staff or course team leaders.
- Assist in setting up workshops in advance of classes by organising tools, equipment, and materials as directed by teaching staff.

Qualifications
- Hold a minimum Level 3 Technical qualification (BTEC, City & Guilds) in an Engineering related field
- Commitment to continuous professional updating
- A commitment to undertake any mandatory training relevant to the role
Experience
- Experience of a college learning environment
- Experience of being able to support basic Engineering based workshop activities with young learners
- Experience of engineering facilities and machinery
Knowledge & Skills
- Basic knowledge of rules and regulations in Engineering Industry
- Ability to work unsupervised.
- IT skills appropriate to the needs of the post
- Good communication skills
