About the Opportunity
The Business & Security Lead is accountable for leading and delivering a robust, compliant, and customer‑focused business support service within the Sellafield Licensed Site. The role plays a critical part in enabling safe and efficient operations by ensuring effective security and passes administration, personnel vetting, and the accurate delivery of blue-collar payroll in accordance with NAECI and Civil Working Rule Agreements.
Operating in a highly regulated nuclear environment, the post holder ensures full compliance with Sellafield Ltd governance, security, and data protection requirements, while driving continuous improvement and supporting operational and project delivery.
Key Accountabilities:
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, manage, and develop a team of business support administrators, ensuring capability, resilience, and succession within the function.
- Set clear priorities and performance expectations aligned to Sellafield and Amentum values and behaviours.
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and performance management to support individual and team development.
Business Support Delivery
- Ensure the effective delivery of end‑to‑end business support services across assigned operational and project areas.
- Oversee passes, security access, and personnel administration in line with Sellafield site security requirements.
- Manage personnel vetting and onboarding processes to ensure safe, compliant access to the licensed site.
Payroll & Working Rule Agreements
- Ensure the accurate and timely processing of blue-collar payroll in accordance with NAECI and Civil Working Rule Agreements.
- Maintain a detailed working knowledge of WRAs to ensure correct interpretation and application.
- Resolve payroll queries, discrepancies, and escalations in collaboration with payroll and HR teams.
Compliance, Governance & Assurance
- Ensure all activities comply with Sellafield Ltd policies, nuclear site licence conditions, contractual obligations, and GDPR requirements.
- Maintain high standards of data quality, record keeping, and confidentiality.
- Support audits, assurance activities, and internal reviews, providing evidence and demonstrating effective controls.
Stakeholder Management
- Act as a key interface with operational teams, project managers, HR, finance, security, and contractor organisations.
- Build effective working relationships to enable delivery and resolve issues promptly.
- Provide clear guidance and advice on business support processes and site requirements.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, standardisation, and service quality across business support activities.
- Lead and contribute to process improvement initiatives in line with Sellafield continuous improvement principles.
- Support organisational change activities impacting business support and administrative functions.
Skills & Experience
- Significant experience in a business support, security, administrative and payroll management role.
- Demonstrable experience working within a highly regulated environment (nuclear, construction, infrastructure, or similar).
- Experience of blue-collar payroll processes.
- Working knowledge of NAECI and Civil Working Rule Agreements.
- Proven people management and leadership capability.
- High level of attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy and compliance.
- Experience handling sensitive and confidential information
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Experience working within the Sellafield Ltd environment or on a nuclear licensed site.
- Experience of security access, passes administration, and personnel vetting systems.
- Experience leading process improvement or standardisation initiatives.
Qualifications

NVQ Level 3 in Business and Administration or equivalent experience or 5 years’ experience in Administration.
