Key Duties and Responsibilities of the Teaching Assistant:

Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging, challenging, and inclusive Physical Education lessons that meet the requirements of the National Curriculum and examination specifications where applicable.

Assess, monitor, record, and report on students' progress, attainment, and participation, using assessment data to inform teaching and support student achievement.

Create a positive, safe, and supportive learning environment that promotes high standards of behaviour, participation, and respect.

Promote students' physical, social, and emotional wellbeing through participation in physical activity, sport, and healthy lifestyle education.

Ensure the safe use, storage, and maintenance of PE equipment and facilities, adhering to relevant health and safety policies and risk assessment procedures.

Contribute to the development, implementation, and review of PE curriculum, schemes of work, and departmental improvement plans.

Uphold safeguarding responsibilities and promote the welfare, safety, and wellbeing of all students in accordance with school policies and statutory guidance.
What We’re Looking For:
-
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, with a degree in Physical Education or a sports-related field.

Proven experience teaching PE across a range of age groups and abilities (e.g., KS3 to KS5 / Elementary to High School).

A strong track record of planning and delivering high-quality, inclusive, and engaging practical and theoretical lessons.

A proven ability to motivate all students, from elite athletes to those who lack confidence in physical activity.

The ability to maintain a safe, structured, and positive learning environment, both in the gymnasium and out on the fields.
-
Ability to build fantastic rapport with students, collaborate effectively with colleagues, and maintain clear lines of communication with parents.

Up-to-date knowledge of the current curriculum requirements, safeguarding practices, and health and safety regulations in sports.

A willingness to lead, organize, and support extra-curricular sports clubs, fixtures, and school tournaments after hours or on weekends.
