Full job description

Scena is one of the UK's leading creative construction companies, with over 40 years in the business. Based in South London, we design and build sets for theatres, television, film, museums, conferences, exhibitions and live events worldwide.

We're looking for a skilled and experienced AutoCAD Draftsperson to join our design team. You'll be translating creative briefs and designer sketches into accurate, buildable drawing packages for some of the most exciting scenic builds in the industry. No two projects are the same. and every line you draw becomes something a real audience stands in front of.

What You'll Do

Produce detailed 2D construction drawings and 3D models for scenic and set builds, from initial concept through to workshop-ready fabrication packages
Translate creative briefs, designer sketches, and client specifications into accurate, buildable CAD drawings
Work closely with designers, project managers, and workshop teams to ensure drawings reflect real-world construction constraints, materials, weight, rigging, transport, and installation
Create schematics, structural details, and assembly drawings for bespoke scenic elements including flown pieces, rostra, scenic trucks, cladding systems, and props structures
Manage and update drawing packages as designs evolve through the production process
Attend site surveys, fit-ups, and installs where required
Maintain version control, drawing registers, and file management across multiple live projects simultaneously

What We're Looking For

Proven proficiency in AutoCAD is essential
A solid understanding of how scenic and set elements are actually built
Experience reading and interpreting briefs from scenic designers or art departments
Ability to manage multiple drawing packages under tight production deadlines
Confident communicating with both creative and technical teams
Experience with SketchUp, Rhino 3D, Revit, or SolidWorks is highly desirable

The Role

This is currently a long fixed contract with opportunity for full-time. based at Scena HQ in Croydon, with travel to project sites across the UK and internationally as required.
