Purchase Ledger & Credit Control Assistant

About the Role

We are looking for a reliable and detail-oriented Purchase Ledger & Credit Control Assistant to join our team. This is a varied role combining responsibility for the purchase ledger function with proactive credit control, helping to ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of our accounts department.

The successful candidate will have excellent organisational skills, a strong attention to detail, and the confidence to communicate professionally with suppliers and customers.

Key Responsibilities

Purchase Ledger

· Process supplier invoices accurately and in a timely manner.

· Match purchase orders, delivery notes and invoices.

· Resolve supplier invoice queries promptly.

· Prepare supplier payment runs.

· Reconcile supplier statements and investigate discrepancies.

· Maintain accurate supplier records.

· Assist with month-end procedures and reporting.

Credit Control

· Monitor customer accounts and outstanding balances.

· Contact customers by phone and email to collect overdue payments.

· Resolve customer account queries efficiently.

· Allocate incoming payments and reconcile customer accounts.

· Produce aged debt reports and escalate issues where necessary.

· Build positive working relationships with customers while maintaining effective credit control procedures.

General Accounts Duties

· Assist with bank reconciliations

· Maintain accurate financial records and filing systems

· Ensure compliance with company procedures and financial controls

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

· Previous experience in Purchase Ledger and Credit Control

· Good working knowledge of SAGE 50

· Excellent numerical accuracy and attention to detail

· Good organisational and time management skills

· Strong communication skills with a professional and friendly manner

· The ability to work independently and as part of a team
