What we are looking for?
The HGV Class 2 Tipper Driver is responsible for the safe, legal, and efficient operation of an 8-wheel tipper lorry across Gloucestershire and surrounding areas. The role involves transporting aggregates, soils, recycled materials, muck away, and other construction or waste-related materials to and from customer sites, quarries, recycling centres, transfer stations, and company depots.
The driver plays a key role in ensuring excellent customer service, maintaining compliance with transport legislation, completing daily vehicle checks, and representing the business professionally on the road and on customer sites. This position requires a strong focus on safety, reliability, compliance, and care of the vehicle.
Safely operate an HGV Class 2 8-wheel tipper vehicle in accordance with road traffic law, DVSA regulations, and company policies.
Transport a range of materials including aggregates, sand, stone, topsoil, muck away, hardcore, recycled products, and waste materials.
Carry out deliveries and collections to construction sites, highways projects, commercial premises, quarries, and waste or recycling facilities.
Ensure loads are secure, evenly distributed, and within legal weight limits before leaving site.
Operate tipping functions safely and only in suitable ground conditions and authorised tipping areas.
Assess site conditions before entering, manoeuvring, or tipping, and escalate concerns where access or safety is compromised.
Drive in a fuel-efficient, road-safe, and courteous manner at all times.
Complete daily walkaround checks before the start of each shift in line with DVSA and company requirements.
Inspect key vehicle components including tyres, lights, mirrors, bodywork, warning systems, brakes, tipping gear, sheet systems, fluid levels, and cleanliness.
Accurately report vehicle defects, damage, or safety concerns immediately through the appropriate company defect reporting process.
Ensure the vehicle is kept clean, roadworthy, and presentable both internally and externally.
Monitor vehicle performance and promptly report any issues affecting safe or efficient operation.
Comply fully with all transport legislation, including:
Use digital tachograph equipment correctly and ensure all driving and working time is recorded accurately.
Carry and maintain all required licences, Driver CPC, and driver card documentation.
Follow all company procedures relating to load security, site rules, PPE, documentation, and incident reporting.
Adhere to environmental and waste transfer requirements where applicable.
Represent the company professionally and courteously with customers, site managers, members of the public, and colleagues.
Build positive relationships with clients through punctuality, reliability, and a helpful attitude.
Communicate clearly with transport planners, office staff, weighbridge personnel, site contacts, and managers regarding delays, issues, access problems, or changes to work schedules.
Obtain and submit all necessary paperwork, tickets, delivery notes, waste transfer notes, and signatures accurately and on time.
Report site delays, refusals, overloading concerns, unsafe conditions, or customer issues promptly.
Work at all times in accordance with company health and safety procedures and safe systems of work.
Wear the required PPE at all times when on site or outside the vehicle in operational areas.
Follow site-specific rules and instructions from site managers or authorised personnel.
Never operate in unsafe conditions, including unstable ground, unsafe tipping areas, overhead obstructions, or overloaded situations.
Report all accidents, incidents, near misses, vehicle damage, or health and safety concerns immediately.
Support environmentally responsible operations by avoiding unnecessary engine idling, preventing spillages, and following waste/material handling procedures.
Support wider transport and operational teams as required to meet business demands.
Maintain flexibility to work across different contracts, routes, and sites within Gloucestershire and surrounding areas.
Attend training, toolbox talks, briefings, and compliance updates as required.
Take responsibility for the security of the vehicle, load, keys, fuel cards, and company property.
Assist in promoting a positive team culture through reliability, professionalism, and cooperation with colleagues.
What can we offer you as a HGV Class 2 Driver?
Hourly Rate: £15.00 p/h
Drivers are offered the chance to work up to 60 hours per week (in line by EU driver regulations)
