At UA92, we’re deliberately different.
Co-founded by the Class of ’92 and Lancaster University, we’re here to make higher education more accessible, more inclusive and more connected to the world beyond university. We believe talent is everywhere, but opportunity isn’t – and we want to change that.
Sport has been part of our DNA from day one. We know what it can do build confidence, create belonging, develop character and give students experiences that go well beyond their studies.
We’re looking for a Basketball Head Coach to lead our men’s and women’s basketball teams and help us take the next step in developing basketball at UA92.
This is a hands-on coaching role for someone who can bring together players with different experiences and abilities and create a club where people want to be.
You’ll lead our BUCS basketball teams, planning and delivering Monday evening training sessions and taking responsibility for Wednesday fixtures. Where both teams are playing at the same time, you’ll work with our student committee to make sure the right leadership and support is in place.
You’ll coach for development as well as performance giving players quality feedback, helping talented athletes progress and making sure students at different stages of their basketball journey can get involved and improve.
Away from the court, you’ll play an important part in growing the club. Working alongside our Sport92 team and student committee, you’ll support recruitment, welcome events and taster sessions, helping us build participation and a strong, inclusive basketball community at UA92.
You’ll need a minimum Level 2 Coaching qualification, alongside up-to-date First Aid and Safeguarding qualifications, or a willingness to obtain these.
You’ll be comfortable leading players, delivering engaging training sessions and taking responsibility for the organisation and demands of BUCS matchdays.
Experience coaching both men and women and working with players across different ability levels would be a real advantage. Experience within BUCS competition or higher education would also be welcome.
We’re looking for someone who is organised, confident and player-focused, but just as importantly, someone who understands what university sport should feel like competitive and ambitious, but inclusive, supportive and enjoyable.
You’ll care about student development on and off the court and bring the collaborative, resilient approach that reflects how we work at UA92.
