Ofsted Registered Service Manager – Supported Accommodation

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Location: Sheffield, South Yorkshire
Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 per year, depending on experience
Service: Supported Accommodation, ages 16-25, non-ring fenced

About Us

We are opening a new Ofsted-registered Supported Accommodation service in Sheffield, supporting young people aged 16-25.

Our service will provide safe, high-quality accommodation and support for young people with a range of needs and backgrounds. We aim to create a safe, stable and empowering environment where young people can build confidence, develop independence and achieve positive outcomes.

The service will be person-centred, trauma-informed and focused on supporting young people with independent living skills, education, employment, training, health, wellbeing and move-on planning.

About the Role

We are looking for a passionate, experienced and safeguarding-focused Ofsted Registered Service Manager to lead the service from the beginning.

The ideal candidate will have previous Ofsted experience and a good working knowledge of the Supported Accommodation Quality Standards, safeguarding requirements and compliance expectations. You will be confident leading a staff team, managing risk and maintaining high standards of support, safety and service quality.

You will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the service, staff management, safeguarding, quality assurance and ensuring young people receive effective support to progress towards independence.

Main Responsibilities

Lead the day-to-day running of the Supported Accommodation service.
Promote a safe, welcoming and professional environment.
Manage, supervise and support staff performance and development.
Oversee safeguarding concerns, incidents, risk assessments and support plans.
Support young people towards independence, education, employment, training and positive outcomes.
Ensure the accommodation is safe, suitable and well maintained.
Manage referrals, placements, occupancy and move-on planning.
Maintain accurate records, reports and service documentation.
Build strong relationships with local authorities, social workers, personal advisers, commissioners and other professionals.
Support quality assurance, audits and continuous service improvement.
Ensure the service operates in line with company policies, safeguarding responsibilities, Ofsted expectations and Supported Accommodation Quality Standards.

Essential Requirements

Experience working within supported accommodation, housing support, leaving care, semi-independent living, supported living, youth services, social care or a similar setting.
Previous management, supervisory or senior leadership experience.
Previous Ofsted experience within a regulated children’s, young people’s or supported accommodation setting.
Good knowledge of the Supported Accommodation Quality Standards and Ofsted expectations.
Strong safeguarding knowledge and understanding of professional boundaries.
Experience managing staff, incidents, risk assessments and support plans.
Good understanding of accommodation-based support and the needs of vulnerable young people.
Ability to lead, motivate and support a staff team.
Excellent communication, organisation and leadership skills.
Ability to produce clear written records and reports.
Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
Full right to work in the UK.
Enhanced DBS check, or willingness to obtain one.
Ability to travel between service locations when required.

Desirable

Experience as an Ofsted Registered Manager, Deputy Manager, Service Manager or Team Leader.
Experience managing or helping to develop a supported accommodation service.
Experience working with 16-25 year olds.
Knowledge of local authority expectations and placement processes.
Experience supporting care leavers, homeless young people or young people with complex needs.
