We are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for an Apprentice HR Technical Support Officer within the HR Technical Support and Management Information Team, part of the HR Service Centre.

The HR Service Centre delivers payroll, and related services to Rotherham Council and to a range of external customers. It is a customer focused, fast moving and high-volume service, with around 20,000 salaries processed each month. Central to the effective delivery of the service is the HR and Payroll system and the successful applicant will help to maintain and develop the system and support its users (our customers).

The HR Service Centre currently operates a flexible working model which will include both home and office working on site at Riverside House in Rotherham. However, this could change at any time to meet changing business and service needs.

As an Apprentice HR Technical Support Officer, you will receive training and support from experienced colleagues whilst developing knowledge and skills in management information, reporting, systems support and customer service. Much of your time will be spent supporting the Management Information function, helping to produce, validate and distribute HR and payroll reports, analysing data, and assisting with requests for management information from customers and stakeholders.

Alongside this, you will gain experience of the wider responsibilities of the HR Technical Support Team, including supporting system users, assisting with system maintenance and housekeeping activities, helping to maintain workflows and processes, undertaking data uploads, testing system improvements, and creating and updating user guidance and supporting documentation. This will provide you with a broad understanding of how HR, payroll, systems and data work together to support the organisation

We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, curious and eager to learn. You should enjoy using technology, have good attention to detail, be comfortable communicating with colleagues and customers, and be keen to develop your analytical and problem-solving skills. An interest in working with data and understanding how information can be used to support business decisions would be advantageous. No previous experience in HR, payroll, reporting or systems support is required, as full training and support will be provided throughout your apprenticeship.
