About the Role
Security Officers play an important role in fostering a positive, safe and secure learning environment. They provide a highly visible, proactive presence, helping to maintain safe and welcoming learning and working environments for all students, staff, contractors and visitors.
Security Officers are often first responders to security incidents or to those who need support or assistance and therefore play an important role in setting high standards of respectful communication and positive behaviour expected at The Sheffield College.
The role provides an important operational link between internal teams, liaising with Duty Managers and curriculum or pastoral teams in relation to immediate incidents and agreed short-term interventions. Security Officers support agreed security arrangements and procedures to ensure campus safety and security.
Main Responsibilities

Prioritise and support the security, safety and wellbeing of all students, staff, contractors and visitors on campus.
- Protect College assets by helping to maintain the security of the premises, whilst ensuring the environment remains welcoming, safe and secure.
- Monitor entry barriers at campuses, including standing for prolonged periods and undertaking and recording random screening using hand-held wands and knife arches, in line with College policies and procedures.
- Conduct regular internal and external patrols of College campuses to enhance safety and security.

As the successful candidate, you will be offered a salary of between £26,224.12 per annum based upon a combination of the skills, knowledge and experience that you can bring to the role.
