Doncaster Sheffield Airport is preparing to relaunch, and we are seeking a motivated and proactive Safety Advisor to support the delivery of health, safety and fire safety arrangements across the airport. About the Role
We are seeking a Safety Advisor to support the Health, Safety and Fire Safety Team in the implementation, maintenance and continual improvement of the airport’s Safety Management System (SMS). The role provides practical support and advice to managers, employees, contractors and stakeholders on a wide range of health and safety matters. The postholder will assist with inspections, audits, investigations, risk assessments, contractor management and assurance activities across the airport estate. A key aspect of the role will be acting as an administrator for the airport’s Safety Management System and associated reporting platforms. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining safety records, monitoring actions, producing reports, analysing safety trends and supporting the effective management of safety data to inform operational and strategic decision-making. The role combines operational safety support with strong administrative and analytical responsibilities, making it ideal for someone who enjoys both engaging with people and using data to drive improvement.
You will work closely with operational teams, contractors, tenants and airport stakeholders to ensure safety remains at the heart of everything we do.
Key Responsibilities Include:-

Supporting the implementation and continual improvement of the airport’s Safety Management System (SMS).
- Acting as a system administrator for the airport’s safety reporting and assurance platforms.
- Managing safety records, investigations, audits, corrective actions and assurance data.
- Producing safety performance reports, trend analysis and management information.
- Supporting accident, incident, near miss and safety observation investigations.
- Assisting with workplace inspections, audits and assurance activities across operational areas.
- Supporting the development and review of risk assessments, COSHH assessments and safe systems of work.
- Supporting contractor management processes, including RAMS reviews, permit-to-work arrangements and contractor assurance activities.
- Monitoring compliance with health and safety legislation, standards and organisational requirements.
- Maintaining safety registers, compliance records, training records and controlled documentation.
- Delivering inductions, toolbox talks, safety briefings and awareness campaigns.
- Supporting managers and employees with practical health and safety advice and guidance.
- Assisting during audits, inspections, emergency exercises and regulatory visits.
The Successful Candidate
We are looking for a practical and organised safety professional who is passionate about helping people work safely and effectively. You will have a strong understanding of health and safety principles and be comfortable working with operational teams to identify hazards, assess risks and implement practical control measures. You will also have strong administrative skills and be confident managing large amounts of safety information and data accurately. You will be a strong communicator with the ability to build positive relationships across the organisation whilst maintaining attention to detail and a commitment to high standards. The successful candidate will be comfortable working independently, managing competing priorities and supporting a wide range of activities within a fast-paced operational environment.
Experience within aviation, transport, logistics, manufacturing, engineering or similarly regulated environments would be advantageous but is not essential.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
For this role, you will need:

NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent).
- Experience within a Health and Safety Advisor, Coordinator or Safety Support role.
- Good knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and risk management principles.
- Experience producing or supporting risk assessments, COSHH assessments and safe systems of work.
- Experience supporting accident and incident investigations.
- Experience maintaining records, documentation and compliance systems.
- Strong administrative, organisational and data management skills.
- Experience using electronic reporting, compliance or management systems.
- Ability to analyse information and produce accurate reports.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and effectively manage competing priorities.
Desirable

NEBOSH Diploma or working towards.
- IOSH Membership (TechIOSH, GradIOSH or higher).
- Experience within aviation, transport, engineering, manufacturing or other regulated environments.
- Experience supporting Safety Management Systems (SMS).
- Experience administering electronic safety management or reporting systems.
- Experience supporting audits and assurance activities.
- Knowledge of ISO 45001 management systems.
- Experience delivering toolbox talks, inductions or safety training.
- Understanding of behavioural safety and organisational culture programmes.
- Experience producing trend analysis and management information reports.
