Crescent Pharma Ltd is recruiting a Warehouse Caretaker to join our team at our new Sheffield distribution centre.
This is a permanent, full-time role within a fast-growing UK pharmaceutical company.
The Warehouse Caretaker supports a GDP‑regulated pharmaceutical distribution site, ensuring the warehouse, yard, and surrounding grounds remain clean, safe and compliant.
The role includes internal and external maintenance, hygiene duties, periodic compliance testing and strict control of visitors entering a regulated logistics environment.
Standard hours are either 08:00–17:00 or 09:00–18:00, with flexibility to meet operational peaks and compliance schedules.
Your work directly supports patients, pharmacies, and the NHS.
Pay & Hours
- Salary: £26,450 per year
- No weekend working
- Monday – Friday: 08:00 – 17:00 or 09:00 - 18:00
- Flexibility required for compliance testing schedules, grounds work or operational peaks such as carrier cut‑offs or seasonal demand.
Key Responsibilities
- GDP‑Aligned Facility Maintenance — Maintain warehouse floors, racking areas, marshalling zones, and loading bays to GDP cleanliness and organisational standards; support audit readiness and proper segregation of inbound/outbound materials.
- Grounds Maintenance — Maintain external areas including weed control, mowing, litter removal, and ensuring access roads, loading aprons, and walkways remain safe and presentable for carriers and inspectors.
- Communal Area & Hygiene Cleaning — Clean offices, corridors, break rooms, warehouse floor and toilets; maintain hygiene logs in line with GDP documentation expectations.
- Equipment & Facility Care — Clean and inspect warehouse equipment such as pallet trucks, cages, and racking; report defects or deviations promptly to maintain operational safety.
- Periodic Testing & Compliance Checks — Carry out routine tasks including legionella testing, meter readings, temperature monitoring, and other scheduled checks; complete documentation accurately for GDP audit trails.
- Safety & GDP Compliance — Identify hazards, maintain clear walkways, support controlled‑area access rules and uphold pharmaceutical distribution safety standards.
- Visitor Control — Manage visitor entry to a regulated distribution site, ensuring sign‑in, PPE requirements, escorting rules and restricted‑area protocols are followed.
- Waste Management — Handle general waste, oversee recycling, cardboard baling and pharmaceutical‑specific waste streams in accordance with SOPs and environmental guidelines.
- Minor Repairs — Perform basic repairs such as replacing bulbs, hanging notice boards, tightening fixtures and arranging specialist maintenance when required.
- Operational Support — Assist warehouse teams during busy periods with light duties such as preparing areas for deliveries, supporting stock organisation, or helping during audits and carrier inspections.
Skills & Qualifications
- Attention to Detail — Essential for maintaining GDP standards, spotting hazards and completing compliance documentation.
- Basic Maintenance Skills — Ability to carry out simple repairs, grounds work, and routine testing.
- Willingness to train — Candidates must be willing to undertake training to operate essential equipment such as the wet scrubber, sweeper and scissor lift
- GDP & Safety Knowledge — Understanding of distribution‑focused compliance, hygiene expectations, and controlled‑site procedures.
- Physical Fitness — Capable of manual handling, outdoor work and extended periods of standing or walking.
- Time Management — Able to manage a varied workload with routine and reactive tasks.
- Communication Skills — Clear communication with warehouse supervisors, QA teams, carriers, contractors and visitors.
