Sous Chef – The Archer, Rainworth

Salary: £26,375 – £34,090.20 per annum FTE, pro rata
Location: The Archer, Rainworth, Mansfield
Landmarks Specialist College is looking for an enthusiastic Sous Chef to join the team at The Archer, our public-facing pub and hospitality training environment in Rainworth.
This is a little different from a traditional Sous Chef role. Alongside preparing and serving great food, you will help create opportunities for young people with learning disabilities and difficulties to develop practical catering skills, confidence and workplace experience.
We are looking for someone who enjoys working as part of a team, takes pride in high standards and can encourage others to do their best.
What you'll be doing
You will:
- Prepare, cook and present food to a consistently high standard.
- Help develop menus, specials and seasonal food offers.
- Lead kitchen shifts when required.
- Maintain excellent food hygiene, allergen and food safety standards.
- Manage stock effectively and help minimise food waste.
- Support the smooth running of the kitchen during service.
- Work alongside teaching staff to help learners safely take part in appropriate kitchen activities.
- Encourage learners to develop catering skills, independence and positive workplace behaviours.
- Support events and functions at The Archer.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across Landmarks Specialist College.
What we're looking for
We would like someone who:
- Has experience working in a professional kitchen.
- Is confident preparing and cooking good-quality food.
- Understands food hygiene and kitchen safety.
- Is organised, reliable and able to work well under pressure.
- Has a positive, can-do approach.
- Enjoys working with and developing other people.
- Is interested in using their catering experience to help young people learn new skills.
Experience of working with learners or people with additional needs would be helpful, but it is not essential. The right attitude and willingness to support others are just as important.
What we offer
- Westfield Health Scheme following successful probation.
- Life cover following successful probation.
- Workplace pension.
- 28 days' holiday inclusive of bank holidays, pro rata for 52-week employees.
- The opportunity to use your catering skills in a role that also makes a real difference to young people's lives.
Landmarks Specialist College operates across Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and South Yorkshire, providing specialist education and vocational opportunities for young people with learning disabilities and difficulties.
Landmarks is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our learners. Appointment will be subject to satisfactory pre-employment checks, including an Enhanced DBS check.
