We are seeking a professional and friendly Optical Assistant/Receptionist to join our Optical practice.
Part time role across Thursday/Friday and Saturdays
This role involves providing exceptional customer service, assisting with optical procedures.
The successful candidate will play a vital part in ensuring a smooth and welcoming experience for our patients, supporting the clinical team with their expertise and organisational skills..
Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly and manage the reception area efficiently
- Schedule appointments and handle patient enquiries via phone and in person
- Assist with optical measurements, lens fitting, and basic adjustments under supervision
- Support the clinical team with laboratory tasks, including lens processing and quality checks
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure confidentiality at all times
- Manage stock levels of optical supplies and order as necessary
- Educate patients on optical products, lens options, and aftercare procedures
- Ensure the cleanliness and organisation of the reception area and optical lab
- Support administrative duties such as invoicing, billing, and data entry
- Supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the practice
- Providing high-quality dispensing and frame styling
- Delivering excellent customer service and patient care
- Pre-screening and supporting clinics
- Booking appointments and managing patient records
- Supporting stock management and merchandising
- Building strong relationships with patients
- Working closely with colleagues
Experience
- Minimum 6 months optical experience
- Confident with both dispensing and pre-screening
- A great communicator and natural team player
- Someone who truly values great customer service
- A professional with ambition to progress within optics
- Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work efficiently in a busy environment whilst maintaining professionalism
- Experience in customer service or reception roles is preferred but not essential
