Professional Services Engineer
A great Professional Services Engineer delivers a continually outstanding customer experience by designing and delivering well-planned technical changes and projects that work first time. They communicate clearly before, during, and after delivery, set realistic expectations, and minimise disruption to the customer’s business. By combining strong technical capability with professionalism and attention to detail, they ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and in a way that builds confidence and trust.
Role Description:
As a T2 Professional Services Engineer, you will be an integral part of our professional services team.
Based in our offices and on site to perform hardware installations, your primary goal will be to install and configure hardware and cloud-based solutions for our clients in a timely and efficient manner, working to targets and meeting service level agreements.
Responsibilities:
You will take responsibility for professional service requests, prioritising and dealing with them effectively. This role is crucial in delivering a continuously outstanding customer experience for our clients.
Indicative Time Split
- 70% project delivery and technical implementation
- 20% planning, solution design, and documentation
- 10% continuous improvement, Q2 and professional development
The above time split is intended as a guide. No two weeks are the same, and time will also be spent planning projects, working with customers and suppliers, helping other engineers, sharing knowledge, and completing the documentation needed to deliver projects successfully.
On a day-to-day basis you may be asked to carry out tasks such as:
- Installation and configuration of business connectivity services including FTTP, SoGEA, leased lines, backup WAN connections, and associated firewall configuration and routing.
- Implementation of telephony solutions including 3CX systems, number porting, handset deployment and call flow configuration.
- Delivery of Microsoft 365 migrations, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, and tenant services from on-premises or cloud environments.
- Migration of domains and web hosting between providers, including domain transfers, DNS configuration, website and email migration, and service validation.
- Deployment of cyber security, backup and resilience solutions, including Veeam, Microsoft 365 Backup, Keeper Security, KnowBe4 and PhishER.
- Delivery of Cyber Essentials projects (Scoping, Basic and Plus), including remediation guidance and compliance validation.
- Installation and configuration of SSL certificates across customer environments and hosted services.
- Technical discovery and site surveys to assess customer environments, identify risks and support solution design.
- Production of technical documentation, implementation notes and customer handover packs.
Skills for this role:
Resolve’s Professional Services Engineers are responsible for the delivery of technical implementation projects across customer environments. The role focuses on the installation, configuration and deployment of infrastructure, cloud, security and connectivity solutions, ensuring all work is delivered to agreed standards and best practice.
Engineers are expected to combine strong technical ability with a practical approach to troubleshooting, resolving issues that arise during implementation and ensuring successful project completion.
Accurate technical documentation is a key part of the role, including deployment guides, configuration records and supporting diagrams. This ensures consistency across deployments and supports future maintenance and knowledge transfer.
Attention to detail is critical, with engineers expected to follow defined procedures precisely while maintaining high standards of quality and reliability across all implementations.
Strong communication skills are essential, with engineers working closely with customers, suppliers and internal teams to understand requirements, manage expectations and deliver solutions that meet business needs.
Effective time management is required when working across multiple concurrent projects, with engineers expected to prioritise workloads and deliver within agreed timelines.
A customer-focused mindset is essential, with professionalism and clear communication contributing directly to positive client outcomes and satisfaction.
Flexibility and adaptability are key, as engineers will regularly encounter changing requirements, unexpected issues and evolving project scopes during delivery.

Skills desirable, but not essential
Resolve provides training and support to all employees, but we are looking for someone who already has experience in some of the following technologies:
Core Technologies
- Experience working with Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, Entra ID, SharePoint, OneDrive and Intune.
- Familiarity with Windows desktop and server environments, including basic administration and troubleshooting.
- Exposure to macOS environments is advantageous but not essential.
Networking and Connectivity
- Understanding of fundamental networking concepts including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and NAT.
- Experience configuring or supporting routers, firewalls, VPNs, and connectivity services such as FTTP or leased lines.
- Basic troubleshooting of network and connectivity issues.
Security and Backup
- Awareness or experience with backup and disaster recovery solutions.
- Understanding of endpoint security, antivirus, or security platforms is beneficial.
- Exposure to identity and access management concepts such as MFA and conditional access.
Infrastructure and Devices
- Experience deploying and supporting desktops, laptops, and peripheral devices.
- Understanding of device lifecycle processes including setup, deployment, and decommissioning.
- Familiarity with remote support tools and endpoint management platforms.
Cloud Security Services
- Exposure to endpoint and server security platforms such as antivirus, EDR, or MDR solutions (e.g. SentinelOne or similar tools).
- Familiarity with backup and disaster recovery platforms such as Microsoft 365 Backup solutions or Veeam.
- Experience working with SaaS and cloud-based service configurations, including tenant-level administration and policy configuration.
Qualifications
- Microsoft or vendor certifications are advantageous but not essential.
