The Child and Educational Psychology Service are excited to grow our service through the Experts at Hand and SEND Reforms. We are looking to appoint Assistant Educational Psychologists who wish to develop their understanding of applied psychology in a range of educational contexts. Under the direct supervision of HCPC registered Educational Psychologists, you will support the service to deliver psychological services to schools and settings.
You will have the opportunity to support a number of initiatives across services including.
- Experts at Hand and SEND Reforms
- Early Concerns Neurodevelopmental Pathway
- Partnerships for inclusion of neurodiversity in schools (PINS)
- Multi-disciplinary specialist team (MDST) for young people at risk of exclusion
- Emotional Literacy Support Assistants (ELSAs)
The post-holders will work closely with Educational Psychologists, services and families to provide:
- Researching and reviewing of the evidence base related to areas of practice
- Training for school staff and families in a range of theories and practices
- Modelling and consultation to support schools with putting new learning into practice
- Programme coordination which will include frequent contact with schools, professionals and families.
- Supporting Educational Psychologists with casework
- Programme evaluation, including design, collection and analysis of outcome measures.
This post will be particularly relevant to those seeking to gain knowledge, skills and experience in preparation for applying for doctoral training courses in educational psychology.

Minimum requirements:
- 2:1 or higher Honours Degree in Psychology , or equivalent, which provides a graduate basis for registration of the British Psychological Society, and experience of working with children and young people.
- A minimum of 2 years paid or voluntary experience working directly with individual and or groups of children and young people.
This is a public facing role so you’ll need to show off your fluency in speaking and writing English.
