As a Trainee / Associate Financial Planner, you will work closely with a Lead Financial Planner, supporting the delivery of truly personal, values-led financial plans that put people first.
Through a structured development programme, you will play an integral role in client relationships, plan construction, research and ongoing reviews - gaining deep exposure to every aspect of high-quality financial planning. This is a supported pathway designed to equip you with the technical expertise, confidence and judgement needed to step into a Lead Financial Planner role.

Summary of Role
As a Trainee / Associate Financial Planner, you will play a meaningful role in the lives of our clients, supporting them throughout their financial planning journey with consistency, care and precision. Working closely with a Lead Financial Planner, you will contribute to the delivery of truly personal, values-led financial plans that put people first - helping clients achieve clarity, confidence and peace of mind about their financial futures. You will develop deep client relationships, work towards further professional qualifications, and build the experience and judgement needed to grow within the firm.
Key Responsibilities
* Build and nurture long-term client relationships: Support Senior Financial Planners in communicating financial strategies, delivering ongoing advice, and ensuring every client interaction reflects our commitment to putting people first.
* Conduct research and analysis: Carry out detailed analysis of clients’ financial positions, including existing investments, retirement provisions and protection policies, to inform meaningful and well-grounded planning recommendations.
* Prepare and deliver client meetings: Supporting a Lead Financial Planner in preparing and delivering client meetings, while you build the knowledge and understanding of FFP’s approach and standards, to eventually deliver your own tailored and purposeful comprehensive client meetings.
* Contribute to financial plan development: Assist in building tailored financial plans and solutions that genuinely reflect clients’ goals, values and circumstances, ensuring their financial planning objectives are met with care and clarity.
* Develop and apply technical expertise: Begin advising clients on investment solutions, tax planning strategies and protection needs, always acting in their best interests and in line with their broader financial objectives.
* Maintain compliance standards: Ensure all client advice and documentation is accurate, up to date and fully compliant with regulatory requirements, upholding the high professional standards our clients trust us to maintain.
* Commit to ongoing professional development: Actively pursue and record continuing professional development, working towards further qualifications as part of a structured pathway designed to support your long-term growth within the firm.
* Collaborate across the team: Work closely with colleagues across the team to ensure a joined-up, consistent experience for every client - contributing to a culture where every interaction matters.
Person Specification
* Qualifications: THIS IS A KEY REQUIREMENT FOR THIS ROLE
Minimum Level 4 Diploma in Financial Planning, with a commitment to working towards chartered status and Level 7 CFP.
* Communication skills: Strong written and verbal communication, with the ability to engage confidently with clients and colleagues alike - conveying complex information with clarity and empathy.
* Organisational skills: Able to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively, maintaining accuracy and professionalism under pressure.
* Attention to detail: A meticulous approach to client documentation and correspondence, reflecting the care and precision our clients deserve.
* IT literacy: Proficiency with financial planning software (e.g. Prestwood/Truth, Intelliflo) and Microsoft Office suite.
* Client-first mindset: A genuine commitment to delivering outstanding service and making a positive difference in clients’ lives - living our belief that every interaction matters.
