About DJ Transport:
DJ Transport is a long-established transport, crane hire and contract lifting company based in Yeovil. We undertake a wide range of work including machinery movements, contract lifting, specialist transport, removals, dismantling projects and lift-and-shift operations throughout the UK.
We are looking for a motivated HGV Driver to join our team. While driving is a key part of the role, this is not a "drive all day and go home" position. We are looking for someone who enjoys varied work, practical challenges and developing new skills.

The Role:
Your primary responsibility will be operating our HGV fleet safely and professionally. However, the successful candidate will also become involved in a variety of activities including:
- Contract lift operations
- Lift and shift projects
- Machinery removals and relocations
- Dismantling and installation work
- General yard duties
- Equipment preparation and maintenance
- Loading and unloading equipment
- Supporting crane hire operations
- Slinger/Signaller duties
- Forklift operations
- HIAB / Lorry Loader operations
This is a hands-on role and applicants must be prepared to undertake manual handling activities as part of their day-to-day duties.
We regularly work alongside a wide range of cranes, from compact spider cranes through to 500-tonne mobile cranes. Training and experience will be provided to develop competency in lifting operations and specialist projects.
For the right candidate, there may be future progression opportunities towards Crane Supervisor and other advanced lifting qualifications.
Essential Requirements:
- HGV Class 2 (Category C) Licence minimum
- Driver CPC
- Good work ethic and positive attitude
- Reliable and punctual
- Strong communication skills
- Physically fit and capable of manual handling duties
- Willingness to learn and participate in all aspects of the business
Desirable (Not Essential):
The following qualifications would be advantageous and may attract a higher starting rate:
- HGV Class 1 (Category C+E)
- HIAB / Lorry Loader Certificate
- Slinger/Signaller Qualification
- Forklift Licence
- CSCS Card
- Experience in crane hire, lifting operations, removals, construction or machinery movement
Full training can be provided for suitable candidates.

Pay & Benefits Pay Progression:
- Starting rate: £16.00 per hour
- Progression to £18.00+ per hour as qualifications, competency and experience are gained
Overtime Rates:
- Weekday overtime: 1.33x hourly rate
- Saturday travel: 1.5x hourly rate
- Saturday site work: 1.75x hourly rate (minimum 8-hour payment)
- Sunday work: 1.75x hourly rate (minimum 8-hour payment)
- Night shifts (after 21:00): minimum 10 hours paid at 2x hourly rate
