The Centre for Health Economics (CHE) at the University of York is seeking to appoint two Research Fellows within the Team for Economic Evaluation and Health Technology Assessment (TEEHTA) working on the Support2Work project and/or on NIHR Policy Research Unit in Economic Methods of Evaluation of Health and Care Interventions (EEPRU). on fixed term 18-month contracts (part-time applications will also be considered with a minimum of 0.8 FTE).
The research fellows will contribute their time to one or two projects:
i) Support2Work, an NIHR Health and Work funded project, examining the population health impact and value for money of the provision of employment advisors as part of NHS Talking Therapies, or
ii) EEPRU, a research collaboration between the Universities of York and Sheffield undertaking work for the Department of Health and Social Care and arm’s length bodies including NICE and NHS England. EEPRU currently undertakes work across several themes including medicines pricing, health inequalities, applied evaluation and the marginal productivity of public expenditure.
The Research Fellows will be based in the CHE, one of the world’s most prominent academic health economics research centres. For over forty years we have been committed to the development and application of economics to promote health and wellbeing through the effective, efficient, and equitable use of scarce resources. We are a community of over 100 research staff, support staff, and PhD students. CHE is a vibrant and collaborative research-only department and therefore all staff are encouraged to work on campus at least 50% of their contracted hours, ideally over the core working days of Tuesday - Thursday.
- A Master’s level qualification in health economics or another quantitative subject such as economics, applied mathematics, operational research or applied statistics
- PhD or equivalent research experience in health economics or another quantitative area, with a focus on economic evaluation (Grade 7)
- Knowledge and understanding of economic evaluation and health technology assessment and of a range of research techniques and methodologies for the evaluation of interventions
- Economic evaluation applying quantitative methods including decision analytic modelling
