Machine Mover
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to join our team within our Machine Moving and Contract Lifting division.
Established for over 100 years, J Exley Ltd are trusted experts in heavy lifting, machinery removals and installation, transport and storage.
From single machine installs to full factory relocations, transformers and complex contract lifts, we provide turnkey solutions to a wide range of industries across the UK.

The Role
Based in Mirfield, West Yorkshire, you will carry out work on customer sites across Yorkshire and throughout the UK. You should expect regular site work and occasional nights away depending on project requirements.

Schedule:
· Day Shift
· Monday to Friday- overtime and weekend work when require
The job does require flexibility - early starts, late finishes, and nights away are all part of the role as is occasional weekend work. There is a generous daily and weekend overtime structure to compensate.
Core Responsibilities
- Using slings, chains, shackles, jacks, skates and other rigging equipment to safely move heavy machinery
- Operating equipment such as HIAB cranes, forklifts and other plant for lifting and positioning
- Assisting with contract lifts, working alongside cranes and lifting teams
- Loading and unloading vehicles, including securing loads for safe transport
- Supporting the installation, positioning and levelling of machinery on-site
- Assisting with assembly and disassembly of equipment where required
- Working safely in line with all health & safety procedures and completing required paperwork
- Communicating effectively within the team, including use of hand signals during lifting operations
- Carrying out site-based work including relocation, installation and specialist handling tasks
- Assisting to offload client equipment and machinery into storage and organise our own warehouses
Skills & Experience
We are looking for individuals with experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Machine moving / heavy equipment handling
- Mechanical experience or background
- Slinger / Signaller duties
- Forklift / plant operation
- Working on industrial or construction sites
- Role involves frequently lifting of heavy tackle and equipment up to 20KG.
- Must be comfortable working at heights and on ladders.
The Right Candidate
- Forklift License
- Practical and mechanical mindset
- ALLMI or CPCS Slinger/ Signaller (desirable not essential as training will be given)
- CSCS Red Card
- Safety-conscious with a good understanding of site risks
- Able to work as part of a team and follow instruction
- Calm, reliable and professional on customer sites
- Willing to learn and develop within the role
- You will be required to drive company vehicles as part of this role.
