We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Garment Technologist to join our team and help ensure our products consistently meet the highest standards of fit, quality, durability, and performance.
Role Overview
The Garment Technologist will play a key role in managing product development from concept through to production, ensuring garments are engineered to meet brand standards, technical specifications, and customer expectations.
Working closely with Design, Buying, Production, and Suppliers, you will drive fit consistency, quality improvements, and technical excellence across all product categories.
This role is central to maintaining and elevating the Luke 1977 product standard across the collection.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain technical packs, garment specifications, and measurement charts
- Review samples through all stages of development, including proto, fit, PPS, and production approval samples
- Conduct fit sessions and provide clear technical comments to suppliers
- Manage garment construction, fit, grading, tolerances, and quality standards across multiple product categories
- Review and approve wash care, labelling, packaging, and technical compliance requirements
- Ensure products meet required compliance, safety, and testing standards
- Analyse fabric performance, wash testing, garment durability, and technical risk areas
- Work with factories and suppliers to resolve technical and production issues
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with offshore suppliers and factories
- Proactively identify technical risks and implement solutions to minimise production issues and delays
- Identify opportunities for cost efficiencies without compromising quality
- Manage and support the technical critical path to ensure timely approvals and on-time delivery across all development stages
- Collaborate closely with Design and Product teams to maintain brand DNA and product integrity
- Monitor production consistency and support quality assurance initiatives
- Review returns data and customer feedback to drive continuous product improvements
- Keep up to date with garment technology innovations, fabric developments, and industry best practices
Skills & Experience Required
Essential
- Previous experience as a Garment Technologist within menswear, fashion, or apparel
- Strong understanding of garment construction, fit, grading, tolerances, and manufacturing processes
- Experience conducting fit sessions and managing fit approvals
- Experience across multiple menswear categories, including jersey, knitwear, woven product, outerwear, and denim
- Strong knowledge of fabrics, trims, testing procedures, wash performance, and quality standards
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specification packs
- Experience managing offshore supplier communication and technical approvals
- Strong communication skills with suppliers and cross-functional teams
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and PLM systems (preferred)
Desirable
- Experience working within premium or contemporary fashion brands
- Knowledge of international compliance requirements
- Understanding of sustainability initiatives within garment production
- Commercial understanding of product costings and production feasibility

Pay: £35,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
