The Role
We are looking for an Expeditor to join our Logistics team at our Coventry site.
Reporting to the Material Control Team Leader, you will be responsible for planning and expediting materials from a designated group of suppliers, ensuring the right materials are available at the point of use while maintaining inventory levels in line with business targets.
This is a key role within our Supply Chain function, working closely with suppliers and internal departments to support production and achieve right first-time build.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor shortage and material-at-risk reports and take appropriate action to support production.
- Communicate daily with designated suppliers to expedite materials and manage delivery schedules.
- Review and action due and overdue reports.
- Ensure supplier forecasts support the production plan.
- Develop and implement inventory improvement initiatives, including sequencing, improved packaging and Kanban systems.
- Expedite materials using line load, forecasts, spreadsheets and due and overdue reports.
- Investigate material shortages and work with the Lean Team and other departments to resolve issues.
- Review and action emails and SharePoint queries daily.
- Maintain 5S standards within the work area and support zero shortages and overdue orders on the production line.
- Attend meetings as required.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Proven experience in a material control or expediting role.
- A good understanding of MRP and other material planning systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities.
- A proactive and self-motivated approach.
- A minimum of five GCSEs (or equivalent).
Desirable:
- Degree level qualification or equivalent.
- Experience of Oracle and/or TMS.
- Knowledge of modern material control processes, including Kanban.
- Project management skills.
- A full, clean driving licence.
