Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Financial Assistant to support our Finance Manager at our Flint office. To provide efficient and accurate support to the finance department by maintaining financial records, processing transactions, and assisting with the day-to-day administration of the finance function.

Key Responsibilities

Purchase Ledger

Process supplier invoices and credit notes accurately and promptly.
Match purchase invoices to purchase orders and delivery notes.
Reconcile supplier statements and resolve queries.
Prepare payment runs and obtain necessary approvals.
Maintain accurate supplier records and filing systems.

Sales Ledger

Raise sales invoices and credit notes.
Monitor customer accounts and chase outstanding debts.
Reconcile customer accounts and investigate discrepancies.
Allocate customer receipts and maintain accurate debtor records.

Bank and Cash

Perform bank reconciliations.
Process receipts and payments.
Monitor cash movements and report discrepancies.

Administration

Maintain accurate financial records and filing systems.
Handle finance-related queries from suppliers, customers, and colleagues.
Assist with general office administration and ad hoc finance projects.
Support the finance team with data entry and reporting requirements.
Ensure all records are maintained accurately and confidentially.

Skills and Experience Required

Previous experience in a finance or accounts role.
Good understanding of purchase and sales ledger processes.
Experience using accounting software, preferably Sage.
Strong Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Strong organisational and time-management skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Good communication and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

AAT qualification or working towards AAT (desirable).
GCSEs or equivalent, including Maths and English.

Personal Attributes

Trustworthy and discreet with confidential information.
Proactive and willing to learn.

Qualifications
Proven experience with accounting software including QuickBooks, Sage, or Xero.
Strong data entry skills and attention to detail.
Knowledge of accounts payable procedures.

Excellent organizational skills.
Prior experience supporting finance operations preferred.
Proficiency in MS Office Suite is advantageous.
