About Us
The Autism Service is a clinician-led company providing high-quality ASD and ADHD diagnostic assessments and treatment for children, young people and adults across the UK. Our mission is to make reliable, accurate and timely assessments accessible to everyone who needs them. We are seeking a Senior Accounts & Office Assistant to work within our small finance team, alongside our bookkeeper, payroll clerk and accountant, and under the direct supervisor of our Service Manager and Clinical Director. The company has recently been awarded the status of independent NHS provider and the position recruited for is critical to the seamless supply of services falling due under these contracts.
The Role
This role is suitable for an experienced Senior Accounts & Office Assistant who can oversee the company's accounting operations, whilst also ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of our office in Shrewsbury. Amongst other responsibilities, you must be able to work across multiple contracts/accounts with different payment terms and requirements to invoice accurately and within set deadlines. The pace of work is quick and necessitates an organised and efficient person who can innovate and streamline our processes. This is not an entry role and requires previous experience within similiar roles.
Key Responsibilities
- Primary point of contact for any accounts or finance related queries
- Approve supplier invoices for payment (e.g., consulting rooms, consultant fees)
- Provide invoices and receipts to our bookkeeper in a timely manner
- Order equipment and distribute supplies across national clinics and consultants
- Manage stock levels and asset lists and completing audits as diaried
- Generate monthly financial information for NHS contracts and monitoring activity levels
- All estates related tasks, such utility readings, security issues, faulty items etc.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
- Contribution to data collection for our carbon reduction plan annual measurement
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience in an accounting role
- Knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting
- Excellent attention to detail and organisation skills
- Strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal abilities
- Able to work independently, with good problem-solving skills
