Full job description

Marlborough College is seeking to recruit a skilled, practical and enthusiastic Workshop and Studio Manager to play a vital role in supporting our thriving and well-resourced Design and Technology department. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically confident individual who enjoys a practical role and is motivated by helping young people turn creative ideas into high-quality physical outcomes whilst maintaining equipment and resources in this specialist area.

The successful candidate need not hold a design related degree though knowledge and interest in design and competence in managing complex and competing priorities are important. Confidence to assist with technical instruction of practical skills in a thriving workshop and studio space is expected while experience with additive manufacturing, CAD/CAM, fabrication and construction techniques, woodworking, turning, graphics, textiles, robotics or electronics would be an advantage.

The successful candidate could be a complete novice to the role of Design Technology Technician, as appropriate training will be given, but previous relevant experience in a commercial or educational manufacturing setting would be advantageous. Of high priority is a willingness to work as part of a team, to wholeheartedly support the work of the Design Technology Department and to be able to make a positive contribution to support the experience of all pupils that come through.
