Full job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Support Medical Secretary to provide a valuable support service to our Medicine division at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital. The post is Band 3 and the successful candidate will be working 18.5 hours per week.

You will be able to demonstrate good communication skills, flexibility, and reliability and have an organised approach to work. Working alongside other Medical Secretaries, the post would provide an excellent opportunity for development and progression for a motivated candidate.

Qualifications: You will hold RSA level 3 or equivalent experience and you must possess excellent audio typing skills. Educated to GSCE level or equivalent. Experience within a medical environment is desirable but is not essential.

The post holder will produce accurate clinical and general correspondence, regularly using complex and sensitive medical terminology from audio transcription. You will also be required to respond to telephone calls from anxious and distressed patients, responding appropriately to contentious, sensitive and difficult enquiries. The successful applicant will gain valuable experience within a busy Medical Secretaries office.
