Job Summary
The German Carpentry Ltd works in the field of high end, residential, prefabricated German eco homes. Several projects we have been involved in have been on Grand Designs and other TV programs.
We only work with natural materials and our emphasis is on ecological timber construction with the aim to create healthy and sustainable homes. We are currently looking for experienced carpenters/joiners or less experienced construction workers if motivation and willingness to learn new skills is shown.
We carry out a wide range of tasks, from erecting prefabricated buildings with the help of cranes to tiling roofs, installing metal guttering, plasterboarding, to installation of windows and doors. At times we also undertake the design and manufacture of bespoke green oak frames and the restoration of old oak frames which will then include tasks such as cutting and erecting frames etc. It is crucial that applicants show interest and willingness to learn and get involved in all these aspects. It is not a repetitive job and very different to standard UK site work.
We will provide training and guidance but need applicants to be open to new ways of doing things and be motivated to progress and learn new skills!
Our jobs are UK and EU based, an EU passport is an advantage. Our current job is in North London and the next job is in Brentwood. A lot of travelling is sometimes involved and working away from home for up to 10 days at a time isn't unusual.
Applicants must be:
- Able to work away from home.
- Have all necessary travel documents.
- Open minded, enthusiastic and willing to learn new skills and be able to adapt to a most likely very different working environment.
- Able to work in a team.
- Able to work long days, usually start at 7am and finish at 6 pm.
- Able to work weekends (weekend work is usually available if wanted and sometimes required).
