Key Responsibilities

Employee Relations & Manager Support

Act as the first point of contact for managers within assigned business areas.

Provide expert advice, coaching and practical support on policies, procedures, attendance, performance, grievances, disciplinary matters and other employee relations issues.

Coach supervisors and managers to confidently manage people issues themselves, building capability rather than creating dependency on HR.

Ensure consistent application of HR policies, employment legislation and company procedures.

Resolve employee relations matters within delegated authority, escalating higher-risk or complex cases where appropriate.

Identify recurring themes and trends in employee relations cases, recommending preventative actions and improvements.

Build strong, visible relationships across operational teams through regular on-site presence and engagement with managers and employees.

Manager Capability & Performance

Support managers in implementing performance management, probation, development and career conversations.

Play a lead role in embedding performance management frameworks and ensuring they are consistently applied across the business.

Provide coaching and guidance to managers on performancThe People Partner is a senior operational people role responsible for providing embedded, manager-facing people support across assigned business units. Reporting to the Head of People & Organisational Development, the People Partner translates people strategy and frameworks into consistent day-to-day management practice, helping leaders build high-performing, engaged teams.

The role acts as a trusted advisor to supervisors and managers, providing expert coaching and support on employee relations, performance, capability, attendance, wellbeing, and people management. A key focus of the role is to proactively identify emerging people issues, strengthen manager capability, and embed best practice before issues escalate.

Working closely with the Head of People & OD, the role supports the implementation and embedding of new people initiatives, policies and frameworks, ensuring these become part of everyday management practice rather than one-off projects.

The role plays a critical part in enabling business growth across a rapidly expanding organisation, supporting multi-site operations while maintaining alignment with the company's culture, values and organisational objectives.

Identify manager development needs and work with the Head of People & OD to shape practical learning and development interventions.Support talent development and succession planning discussions within business areas.

Proactive People Partnering

Develop a deep understanding of assigned business areas, building trusted relationships with leaders and operational teams.

Use HR data, trends and insight to identify risks and opportunities relating to attendance, turnover, employee relations, engagement and performance. Work proactively with managers to address emerging issues before they become formal employee relations cases. Champion continuous improvement in people management practices across the organisation.

Talent & Workforce Planning

Partner with the Head of People & Organisational Development and Talent Acquisition team to support recruitment activity across assigned business areas. Advise managers on workforce planning, retention and organisational capability. Support effective onboarding and integration of new employees. Contribute workforce insight to support future organisational growth and resource planning.

Employee Experience & Engagement

Work collaboratively with the Internal Communications Partner and wider People team to support engagement initiatives and organisational culture.Promote inclusion, wellbeing and a positive employee experience.Support managers in embedding organisational values and expected leadership behaviours.Identify opportunities to enhance employee experience through strong manager practices and local team initiatives.

Projects & Continuous Improvement

Support the implementation and embedding of new people frameworks, policies and organisational development initiatives.

Act as the operational lead for embedding people initiatives within business areas, ensuring sustainable adoption and lasting behavioural change.

Support organisational change, restructures and operational growth projects.Contribute to continuous improvement of People processes, systems and ways of working.

Support wider People projects as required, providing operational insight and helping ensure successful implementation across the business.

Reporting & Insight

Monitor and analyse people metrics including attendance, turnover, employee relations

activity and performance trends.

Provide regular reports and practical recommendations to the Head of People & Organisational Development.

Use people data to identify trends, measure the effectiveness of interventions and inform proactive action planning.

Support workforce planning and organisational decision-making through meaningful people insight.

Quality, Health, Safety & Environment (QHSE)

Maintain a high standard in HSE attitude and behaviour.

Report any observed unsafe actions and conditions.

Adhere to all applicable quality standards, Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions.

Authorities, Interfaces & Reporting

Reports directly to the Head of People & Organisational Development.

Responsible for providing day-to-day people partnering support across assigned business areas, supporting managers, managing employee relations matters within delegated authority and leading the operational embedding of people initiatives.

Accountable for:

Building manager capability
Managing employee relations effectively and proactively
Embedding People policies and frameworks
Supporting organisational change
Driving continuous improvement in people management practice
Supporting workforce planning and employee engagement.

Works closely with the CPO, Head of People & Organisational Development, Senior Talent Recruitment Specialist, Internal Communications Partner, HR Administrator, business leaders, supervisors, employees and external advisers where appropriate.

Skills, Knowledge & Attributes

- Demonstrable experience in an operational HR, People Partner, HR Business
- Partner or Senior HR Advisor role within a fast-paced, growing organisation.
- Strong employee relations knowledge with confidence managing a broad range of casework
- Proven ability to build manager confidence and capability through trusted partnering and practical guidance
- Knowledge of UK employment legislation and HR best practice.
- Experience implementing and embedding people initiatives, frameworks or organisational change.
- Strong relationship-building and influencing skills with the confidence to challenge constructively.
- Excellent communication, facilitation and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong analytical ability, using people data to identify trends and inform decisions.
- Comfortable balancing operational priorities with continuous improvement activity.
- Experience using HRIS systems and producing meaningful management information.
- Resilient, pragmatic, approachable and comfortable working autonomously in a growing organisation.
