Technical Assistant/UAV Pilot
Location: Preferrable locations include Leicester and surrounding or Bicester and surrounding.
Opportunity:
We are currently seeking a Technical Assistant/UAV Pilot. The successful candidate will be responsible for safely operating UAVs and efficiently capturing high-accuracy geospatial data to support land surveying, engineering and construction of projects.
The Successful Applicant will:
- Meet the qualifications and experience requirements outlined below.
- Hold a degree in the field of engineering (desirable).
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
o Planning and executing UAV survey missions to capture high-resolution aerial imagery and geospatial data for land surveying, construction and infrastructure projects.
o Conduct pre-flight planning, risk assessments and equipment inspections to ensure safe and compliant drone operations.
o Operate RTK/PPK-enabled drones to collect accurate topographic, volumetric and mapping data.
o Establish ground control points to improve survey accuracy and validate collected data.
o Process aerial imagery using photogrammetry software to generate orthomosaics, digital elevation models, digital surface models and 3D point clouds.
o Collaborate with surveyors, engineers, and project managers to deliver accurate geospatial information, supporting project-planning and decision-making.
o Maintain detailed flight logs, maintenance records and operational documentation in accordance with regulatory requirements.
o Ensure compliance with aviation regulations, company procedures and health and safety standards during all UAV operations.
o Perform routine maintenance, firmware updates and calibration of UAVs, GNSS equipment and associated survey instruments.
o Conduct quality assurance checks on collected survey data to ensure accuracy, completion and consistency ahead of any final submission.
o Assist with site reconnaissance, project planning, and survey control establishment to optimise data collection efficiency.
Package:
o Contract Type: Permanent
o Weekly Hours: 07:30am to 17:00pm (We are open to discussing reasonable adjustments)
o Holiday Allowance: 23 days plus bank holidays, with additional holiday based on service. For part-time employees, holiday entitlement will be calculated on a pro-rata basis.
