Arborist Groundsman

Rose Tree Surgeons Ltd is looking for a reliable and hardworking Groundsman to join our growing arboricultural team.
Our work ranges from local domestic and commercial projects to larger contracts undertaken nationwide. Applicants must therefore be willing to travel to different locations, with early starts and occasional working away where required.
This is a practical and physically demanding outdoor role. You will work alongside our climbers and machine operators, helping the team complete tree works safely, efficiently and to a professional standard.
Main responsibilities
- Supporting climbers during pruning, dismantling and tree-removal operations
- Preparing and maintaining safe working areas
- Processing branches using woodchippers
- Moving, stacking and processing timber and other arisings
- Assisting with ropes, rigging and lowering operations
- Operating chainsaws from the ground when appropriately qualified
- Assisting with site set-up, signage and pedestrian management
- Completing daily vehicle, machinery and equipment checks
- Keeping worksites, vehicles, machinery and the yard clean and organised
- Following risk assessments, method statements and company safety procedures
- Communicating professionally with clients, contractors and members of the public
- Helping ensure every site is left clean, safe and presentable
Essential requirements
- A full UK driving licence – this is absolutely essential
- Reliability, punctuality and a strong work ethic
- The ability to undertake physically demanding outdoor work
- Willingness to work outside in varying weather conditions
- A professional and responsible attitude
- Good communication and teamwork
- A strong awareness of health and safety
- Willingness to travel for local and nationwide work
- Flexibility regarding early starts and changing site requirements
Desirable qualifications and experience
- NPTC or LANTRA chainsaw qualifications
- Previous arboricultural, forestry, landscaping or grounds-maintenance experience
- Woodchipper qualification
- Stump-grinder qualification
- Emergency First Aid at Work, including Forestry
- Towing entitlement
- Experience using arboricultural machinery and equipment
Chainsaw qualifications and previous industry experience are highly desirable. However, we will also consider applicants with the right attitude, a strong work ethic and a genuine interest in developing a career within arboriculture.
