Job Overview
Main Responsibilities
The Recycling Plant receives incoming (WEEE) waste electrical and electronic equipment and separates this into separate commodity streams. These commodities such as ferrous/non-ferrous metals, plastics and precious metals are sold to an international market. The operations are managed with the business focus on the customer and the functional focus on shared efficiency across the entire site.
The Mobile Plant Operative is responsible for operating a mobile plant to move, locate, relocate, stack, and count WEEE bags. The Operator is accountable for the safe and efficient operation of the vehicle at all times.
To maintain the operations of the Recycling Plant in such a way as to maximise efficiency, ensuring continuity of safety and maximum production levels.
The job holder has responsibility for keeping the mobile plant operational with as little downtime as possible.
Key Duties
- Loading and unloading goods from vehicles
- Moving goods packed on pallets or in bags around site
- Stacking goods in the correct storage bays
- Checking loads are secure
- Stacking empty pallets
- Performing daily equipment checks and report any defects
- Working on the belts and in different departments as required
Production
- Be observant at all times
- Ensure orders from Team Leaders are carried out in a timely manner
- React quickly to change, reprioritise workload as required with the Shift Manager
- Liaise with the management constantly to update when required
Quality
- Examining products to verify conformance to quality standards
- Dumping materials into separated bays and checking for contamination whilst doing so
Health and Safety
- Responsible for ensuring you are wearing the correct PPE (Personal Protection Equipment), have the correct training according to the training matrix and are working to the SOP’s (Standard Operating Procedures) and are observing site Health and Safety rules.
- Ensure all equipment is safe to use
- Follow documented procedures and SWP’s (Safe Working Practices)
- Ensure Risk Assessments are done when required
- Work to a high Health & Safety standard and follow the company’s safe working practices at all times
Environment
- Have environmental and special awareness when operating plant machinery
Housekeeping.
- Monitor and record spillages or untidy piles of WEEE immediately
- Keep work area tidy and ensure Yard Team Leaders informed when required to clean area
- Ensure all plant and equipment are returned to/parked up where they belong during and at end of shift
- It is your responsibility to ensure that any areas you have worked in are tidied when the job is finished
Reporting
- Report straight away any defects found to the Yard Team Leaders
- Report plant defects which continue to be a problem or you observe is not being fixed
- Ensure any incidents on your shift are reported to the Yard Team Leader
