Full job description

Part-Time Assembly Technician

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Part-Time Bronze Assembly Technician to join our workshop team. The successful candidate will assemble high-quality bronze portlights, marine lights, and other bronze cast products manufactured by the company. This is a hands-on role requiring precision, mechanical aptitude, and experience operating conventional machine tools. This job offers the chance to work in the heart of a bustling harbour working closely with colleagues to deliver high level products.

Key Responsibilities:

Assemble bronze portlights, marine lights, and other bronze castings to company specifications.
Carry out fitting, machining, drilling, tapping, polishing, and finishing operations as required.
Operate manual lathes and milling machines to produce or modify components to precise tolerances.
Inspect components during assembly to ensure quality standards are met.
Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment.
Assist with workshop tasks as required to support production.

Skills and Experience Essential:

Experience operating manual lathes and manual milling machines.
Mechanical assembly experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
Ability to read engineering drawings.
Good understanding of measuring equipment and tolerances.
High attention to detail and commitment to producing quality workmanship.
Ability to work independently and as part of a small team.

Practical problem solver.
Strong work ethic with pride in producing quality products.
Flexible and willing to assist with a variety of workshop tasks.
Good communication skills.
