We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Apprentice Mechanical / Service Engineer to join our experienced engineering team. About the Role
As an Apprentice Mechanical / Service Engineer, you will undertake our comprehensive in-house apprenticeship programme, designed to develop your skills through practical experience, structured learning and one-to-one mentoring. Working alongside our experienced engineers, you will gain knowledge across every aspect of our business, progressing from the fundamentals of mechanical engineering to becoming a confident and capable engineer.
The role provides experience across a wide variety of engineering disciplines, including routine servicing and inspections, boiler installations, pipework fabrication, valve overhauls and heritage restoration projects. Every project offers an opportunity to develop new skills and gain valuable industry experience.
As your knowledge and confidence grow, you will gradually take on greater responsibility, working towards carrying out engineering work independently while continuing to receive guidance and support from our experienced team.
Key Responsibilities
Working alongside our engineers, your duties will include:
- Assisting with the servicing, maintenance and repair of industrial and heritage steam boilers.
- Supporting annual boiler inspections and statutory examinations.
- Preparing equipment for Non-Destructive Testing (NDT).
- Assisting with valve stripping, overhaul, testing and refurbishment.
- Supporting pipework repairs, fabrication and installation projects.
- Assisting with boiler installations and commissioning.
- Learning mechanical fitting techniques and general engineering practices.
- Working on heritage boiler restoration projects requiring precision and attention to detail.
- Preparing tools, equipment and materials for site work.
- Maintaining a clean, organised and safe working environment.
- Following company health and safety procedures at all times.
- Travelling to customer sites throughout the UK to assist with engineering projects.
- Working away from home when required to support customer projects.
Our In-House Apprenticeship Programme
Our apprenticeship has been developed using our many years of engineering experience and is designed to provide practical, real-world training in specialist boiler engineering.

About You
We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic about engineering and eager to learn. Previous engineering experience is not essential, but a practical mindset and willingness to develop new skills are important.

Requirements
- Full UK Driving Licence (essential).
- Ability to reliably commute to or relocate to Cowling, near Keighley, West Yorkshire before starting employment.
- Willingness to travel throughout the UK and stay away from home when required.
- Character references available upon request.
