About the role
GreenPower is seeking to appoint an Asset Data Analyst who will have overall responsibility to collect, manage and analyse data from operational renewable generation and/or other GreenPower energy assets including wind, hydro, EV, hydrogen and solar.
Roles and responsibilities
Asset Data Management & Analysis
- Responsibility for the handling and analysis of data across all operational assets (including existing wind & hydro generators and developing further in relation to other technologies such as solar farms & commercial roof-top solar, EV charge points and green hydrogen facilities).
- Establish & maintain automated data acquisition processes, collection, management, handling and analysis of data maintaining the cleanliness, security, and integrity of data acquired from the operational assets.
- Take full responsibility for data analysis to adopt and/or establish standardised process maps for reporting cycles and performance investigations, ensuring all analytical methodologies are auditable and repeatable.
- Regularly monitor asset performance, including output, downtime, faults, curtailment, constraints and causes of lost production / availability, establishing & maintaining reporting formats and structures to satisfy the requirements of the Asset Manager and/or the project/business management.
- Validate O&M contractor performance reports against contractual KPIs and independently verify asset performance.
- Carry out ad-hoc analysis of asset performance.
- Develop analytical models and standardise / automate processes using programming languages, including Python, for data manipulation and automated workflows.
Reporting, Documentation & Process
- Maintain a high standard of technical report writing and/or presentation which is comprehensive, accurate and concise.
- Develop reporting formats, automated where possible and including regular dashboard reports for asset managers and for reporting to management.
- Design, deploy, and maintain physical office dashboards to display real-time asset health, KPIs, and generation metrics for the team (including automated API links, data pipelines, or widgets to feed live operational data to the physical office dashboards.)
- To serve as the foundation for formal quality management processes:
- maintain clear, accurate & concise documentation that is up-to-date and comprehensively describes data handling and reporting processes (including tools such as Python scripts); and
- document all data pipelines, cleaning protocols, and data storage / archiving workflows.
- Map and document all data and operational processes to directly feed into the establishment of our formal company quality management system.
Operational Project Maintenance
- Support management and troubleshooting of operational communications infrastructure by:
- managing site network infrastructure, including firewalls, VPN tunnels, and industrial routers, to ensure secure and stable data transmission;
- proactively monitoring and troubleshooting data feeds, including SCADA telemetry, CCTV networks, and fire/intruder alarms; and
- managing relations with 3rd party data and/or network service providers.
- When called upon to do so, apply professional project management skills to assist with the delivery of project maintenance items and/or improvements in relation to the operation of the asset including budgeting, planning and coordination of onsite maintenance activities with external contractors (for example software and hardware upgrades for site communication / network equipment).
- Maintain good Health & Safety awareness and familiarity with site access processes (including the Wind Turbine Safety Rules), the requirement for RAMS, Safe System of Work, Emergency Response etc. and ensure that external contractors follow appropriate safety procedures.
Essential Candidate Criteria
- Degree or higher national diploma (HND) in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or a closely related technical field.
- Proven experience cleaning and processing time-series data using tools including Excel, SQL and Python.
- Experience in obtaining operational data from SCADA systems or industrial internet platforms.
- Strong engineering mindset with the ability to interpret SCADA data to understand technical faults in physical equipment.
- Ability to translate complex data findings into simple, actionable insights.
- Familiarity with gathering data through Application Programming Interfaces (APIs).
- Full, current driving licence valid for driving in the UK.
Key Terms & Conditions:
Salary: Salary dependent on experience.
Contracted hours: 37.5 hours per week.
Location of work: This post will be based at the e-Centre, Cooperage Way, Alloa, FK10 3LP.
Annual leave: 25 days personal leave, plus 12 statutory holidays / office closure days per annum.
Sick pay: Entitlement to occupational sick pay.
