Driver/Yard Operative (Newark)

Turnbull & Co is a family-owned builders’ merchant with long-standing roots across Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire. We’re looking for a reliable Driver/Yard Operative to join our Newark branch and play a key role in serving our trade customers and supporting daily branch operations.

This is a hands-on, practical role supporting our Newark team and focused on getting things right for customers and working closely with our local branches.

What you’ll be doing

Loading and unloading our fleet of delivery vehicles ensuring that all products are safely loaded, secured and are correct against the customers’ orders.
Making local deliveries of Building materials.
Ensuring delivery is safe to make and respecting customer’s property.
Checking goods off with Customers and obtaining signatures for delivery.
Providing first class customer service.
Handling customer queries on delivery effectively

What we’re looking for

You don’t need previous builders’ merchant experience — we’re happy to train the right person.

What matters most is:

A positive attitude and willingness to work
Being reliable, practical, and safety-conscious
Able to work well as part of a team
Comfortable dealing with customers in a polite, professional way

Full Driving licence for 7.5t and driver CPC.
A Class 2 Licence is desirable but not essential – we are willing to offer HGV training for the right person.
Forklift experience is desirable but not essential (training available).
