Position: Painter & Decorator
Salary: £24,212 per annum
Hours: 36.25 hours per week
Contract: Permanent
Location: Toynton, with travel between sites as required.

About the role
The Painter & Decorator will play a key role in maintaining and improving the appearance and condition of the Trust’s buildings and facilities. Working as part of the Maintenance & Estates Team, you will carry out a wide range of internal and external painting and decorating works, helping to ensure our environments are safe, welcoming and fit for purpose for the people we support, learners, staff and visitors.
You will work across multiple sites, supporting planned maintenance programmes, refurbishments and reactive works, while ensuring high standards of workmanship and compliance with health and safety requirements.
As part of the role, the successful applicant will:
- Carry out painting and decorating tasks to a high professional standard
- Prepare surfaces, including sanding, filling, stripping and priming
- Undertake internal and external decorating works using appropriate materials and finishes
- Complete minor repairs to surfaces prior to decoration where required
- Work collaboratively with other members of the Maintenance & Estates Team
- Maintain safe, clean and tidy work areas, particularly in occupied buildings
- Follow health and safety procedures, risk assessments and safeguarding requirements
- Identify and report any additional maintenance issues observed while working
About you
You will have practical experience as a Painter & Decorator, with a good understanding of decorating techniques, materials and tools. You will take pride in your work, have good attention to detail, and be able to work independently while also contributing positively as part of a team.
A qualification such as NVQ or City & Guilds in Painting & Decorating would be desirable, although equivalent practical experience will be considered. Experience of working in education, care, housing or other occupied settings would be advantageous.
You will be reliable, organised, flexible in your approach and comfortable working across multiple sites.
