Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Assistant Manager with strong general management skills to support the day-to-day running of our warehouse, alongside a small but busy team in the office. The role requires a confident person with strong people leadership and sound decision-making with good organisational ability. The successful candidate does not need to come from a horticulture background but should be comfortable working in a horticulture mail order environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the manager with the day-to-day running of the warehouse, including picking, packing, despatch.
- Lead and motivate team Leaders.
- Work closely with Team Leaders to ensure quality is maintained in preparation, picking and packing.
- Assist with staff recruitment and training.
- Maintaining accurate records
- Ensure compliance with company procedures. Including look after Health and Safety on site.
- Help in seasonal planning for peak/off peak periods.
- Help to encourage a culture of teamwork on the warehouse floor.
- Look at ways to improve efficiency and productivity in the warehouse
Required Skills.
- Proven management or supervisory experience, with responsibility for leading teams and supporting day-to-day running of the warehouse.
- Good people management skills, with the ability to organise.
- Good organisational and planning skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and respond to changing demands.
- Good decision-making and problem-solving ability, with a practical and hands-on approach.
- Good communication skills.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Business Central is an advantage but not essential as training can be given.
- Management qualification. Or relevant training in leadership, operations, or business administration.
- Knowledge of health and safety.
- Forklift license FLT or Long Reach could be useful.
- Problem solving, and a hands-on attitude.
Pay: £30,000.00-£32,000.00 per year
