Cobalt Ground Solutions is expanding and we are looking for skilled and motivated Vehicle Mechanics to join our busy Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Maintenance Team at London Heathrow Airport.

About the Role
As a Vehicle Mechanic, you will play a key role in ensuring our Ground Support Equipment fleet remains safe, reliable, and operational around the clock.
Working as part of our professional maintenance team, you will diagnose faults, carry out repairs, complete scheduled servicing, and help minimise downtime across a wide range of airport vehicles and specialist equipment.
Your Responsibilities
- Diagnose faults and carry out repairs on Ground Support Equipment (GSE) and company vehicles.
- Perform routine servicing, inspections, and preventative maintenance.
- Respond to breakdowns and emergency repairs.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records.
- Ensure equipment remains safe, compliant, and operational.
- Work in accordance with company health and safety procedures.
- Support the operational needs of a busy airport environment.
You will work on a varied fleet including specialist airport equipment, ground handling vehicles, and company cars, making every day different and challenging.
What We're Looking ForEssential Requirements
- City & Guilds, NVQ, or equivalent vehicle maintenance qualification.
- Excellent diagnostic and repair skills.
- Experience working within a busy workshop environment.
- Full UK manual driving licence (maximum 3 penalty points).
Desirable Experience
- Plant machinery maintenance.
- Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) maintenance.
- Roadside recovery experience (AA, RAC or similar).
- LGV driving licence.
- Experience with diesel and electric vehicles.
- Hydraulics experience.
- Welding experience.
Shift Pattern
This role operates on a rotating shift pattern across a 7-day operation:
- 7 days on, 3 days off
- 7 days on, 4 days off
Applicants must be flexible and willing to work a mixture of early and late shifts as required and have the ability to commute to Heathrow Airport for early shifts commencing at 5am.
Security and Compliance Requirements
Due to the nature of working at Heathrow Airport, successful applicants will be required to:
- Provide a fully checkable 5-year employment and/or education history.
- Provide references to cover any gaps in employment.
- Demonstrate their right to work in the UK.
- Undergo a UK criminal record check (DBS).
- Complete overseas criminal record checks where applicable.

- Your DVLA Check Code, obtainable via the GOV.UK website.
- Proof of your National Insurance number, such as a payslip from the last 3 months or a P60 from the previous tax year.
- Your HMRC 5-Year Employment History Letter, obtainable through the HMRC website, HMRC App, or Self Assessment records if self-employed.
