Job Overview
We are seeking passionate and dedicated African Dancers to join our team as Volunteer First. This role offers an exciting opportunity to share cultural heritage through dance, engaging with diverse audiences and contributing to community events. The position is paid, recognising the valuable contribution of volunteers in promoting cultural awareness and artistic expression. Successful candidates will have a flair for performance and enjoy working in lively, community-focused environments.

Responsibilities

Perform traditional African dance routines at various community events, festivals, and cultural programmes
Engage with audiences through lively demonstrations and interactive sessions
Assist in organising dance workshops and educational sessions for different age groups
Collaborate with event organisers to ensure smooth performances and audience engagement
Promote cultural understanding by sharing insights about the significance of the dances performed
Maintain a professional appearance and behaviour during all engagements, representing the organisation positively

Qualifications

Experience or training in dancing, particularly African dance styles, is preferred but not essential
Strong public speaking skills to effectively communicate with audiences of all ages
Ability to teach dance routines in an engaging and accessible manner
Excellent communication skills to work collaboratively with team members and event organisers
Passion for cultural arts and community engagement
Reliable, punctual, and committed to volunteering responsibilities

This role provides a rewarding opportunity to celebrate African culture through dance while developing your performance and teaching skills within a supportive team environment.

After volunteering, you coukd be hired to a permanent role. Food will be covered and your transport.

Job Types: Part-time, Temporary
Contract length: 12 months
