Location: Solihull Area – On-site

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Hours: 35 hours per week

About Us

We are an ambitious law firm based in the Solihull area. Thanks to a major recent outside investment, we are entering an exciting phase of rapid growth. We are expanding our teams, completely modernizing our operations, and investing heavily in new technology to scale our business.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced, proactive Chief / Senior Legal Cashier to take charge of our day-to-day finance and administration function.

This is a unique time to join us. Because of our new financial backing, we are actively migrating away from old legacy processes and moving to brand-new, automated legal accounting software. In this role, you will have the rare opportunity to help create your own environment—recommending improvements to accounting procedures, setting up new workflows, and training staff on our modern systems.

Key Responsibilities

Ledger & Cash Management: Account for all financial transactions across office and client accounts. Handle the accurate recording and posting of receipts and payments via cash, cheques, BACS, and CHAPS.
Account Reconciliations: Perform regular client and office bank statement reconciliations, alongside full month-end and year-end routines.
Firm Expenditure: Maintain the purchase ledger, pay disbursements on behalf of clients, manage petty cash, and handle staff expense reimbursements.
System Ownership & Supervision: Oversee all banking arrangements, manage timely cost transfers, and take the lead in supervising and training staff to understand our new accounts systems.
Risk & Compliance: Ensure absolute compliance with SRA regulations and Solicitors’ Accounts Rules, while remaining highly vigilant against fraud and money laundering risks.

What We Are Looking For

Proven Experience: Strong background handling solicitors’ accounts with a rock-solid, practical knowledge of the SRA Accounts Rules.
Tech Savvy: Comfortable with computerized accounting and time-recording systems, with a desire to help implement modern, automated software.
Core Strengths: A high level of accuracy, strong numeric ability, and the verbal agility to problem-solve.
Mindset: Ability to accept responsibility, work on your own initiative, and offer adaptability and flexibility in a fast-growing environment.
Integrity: Absolute commitment to ensuring the confidentiality of all firm and client documentation.
Local: Based in or within easy commuting distance of the Solihull area.
