Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking Farm Worker and milker to join our team. you will be responsible for assisting with various tasks related to farm operations and Milking . This is a physically demanding role on a rotor including weekend work.
Duties:
-Milking our herd of cows , done on a 40 point rotary parlour. We have tried to make this as easy and efficient as possible with the aid of a robotic teat prep brush, automated backing gate, sorting gate and teat sprayers, to ease the workload for the operator
- Working with our dairy herd, moving animals for milking and cleaning and bedding cubicles using a tractor operated rake, and feeder wagon to fill beds with fresh bedding. Scraping will mainly be done automatically but some areas are still scraped with tractors. It would be beneficial if you have experience in handling and moving stock, calmly and safely, and general stockmanship skills to care for the herd. This would be as part of a rota.
- Depending on preferences and experience there are a wide range of extra duties including animal husbandry of the herd, which training will be given to candidates with the right attitude and willingness to learn.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working on a farm or in a similar agricultural setting is preferred
- Ability to operate tractors and machinery safely and efficiently
- Stockmanship skills to work with livestock.
- Physical stamina.
- Knowledge of animal care practices is a plus
- Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions
Please note that all positions at our farm are paid.
