About Us
Secrets Of Fire (SOF) is an alternative, gothic-industrial upcycled clothing brand born in Birmingham. We blend heritage garments with heavy hardware, bold prints, and dark aesthetics. Alongside the label, we're launching a fashion and creative culture podcast featuring designers, musicians and local creatives.
As we go about building a cult following, we want you to help us capture the visual identity of the brand.
The Role
This is a fast paced, highly creative hybrid role blending filming, video/audio editing, and social media marketing.
You'll work directly with the founder to develop content ideas, plan shoots and shape the visual direction of the brand and collaborate with local models, musicians, and techno DJs, to help scale our digital footprint.
This role is perfect for a self-motivated creator who can take a shot-list and run with it independently, bringing fresh ideas to the table.
As the brand grows, there is potential for additional hours and greater creative responsibility, including directing larger shoots, campaign planning and leading content strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Filming: Hit the streets of Birmingham to shoot high-energy, smooth tracking footage of models and artists using gimbals to capture smooth, cinematic tracking shots. Capture crisp lifestyle photography alongside video.
- Video Editing: Produce striking 30-second music video style video edits, quick 10-second social cuts, and engaging local interest clips with voiceovers.
- Audio & Podcast Production: Edit a bi-weekly 20 minute podcast episode, upload to Spotify, update our WordPress site, and turn audio snippets into engaging social media teasers
- Social Media Management: Schedule and publish regular content across Instagram, TikTok and Facebook, maintaining a consistent brand presence.
What We Are Looking ForEssential:
- Location: Based in or around central Birmingham. You need to be able to shoot weekly in or around the city centre area and meet at a B12 co-working space.
- Technical Skills: Strong camera and gimbal operation for smooth tracking shots. A solid grasp of lighting and framing.
- Software: Proficiency in Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve or similar professional editing software. Working knowledge of Photoshop and Illustrator is advantageous.
- Vibe Check: You naturally consume and appreciate alternative culture - whether that's gothic fashion, underground music scenes, creative photography, industrial aesthetics, streetwear, punk, metal, techno or adjacent subcultures.
- Portfolio: A link to recent video work is required to apply.
- Equipment: Applicants should have access to their own camera and editing setup.
Nice to Have:
- Drone operation experience (or license) is highly advantageous. Access to drone equipment is a bonus but not essential.
- Audio editing experience (In Premiere, Audition, Ableton or Logic etc.).
- Photography skills (ability to use off-camera lighting/ flash).
- Full UK driving licence and access to a car.
Perks & Flexibility
- True Flexitime: Work from home for all editing and scheduling, fitting the hours around your lifestyle.
- Creative Freedom: We're looking for someone who wants ownership, not just instructions. You'll have significant freedom to shape how the brand looks and feels online.
- Network: Get connected with local music artists, producers, and designers.
