Join Somerset NHS Foundation Trust as an Assistant MDT Coordinator supporting Cancer Services across Musgrove Park and Yeovil District Hospitals.
This part-time role offers a blend of home-based and on-site work, providing vital administrative support to Senior and MDT Coordinators. You will help ensure cancer patients receive timely appointments and care by managing multiple MDT inboxes, tracking patient pathways, and supporting national cancer waiting time standards. You will be required to undertake in-person training at the Yeovil administrative office and will also need to work on-site at YDH and MPH as required. While the role will be predominantly home-based, the ability to attend site when necessary is essential to meet service needs.
24 hours a week : Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday 6 hours a day with morning start - fixed schedule, Thursday or Friday 6 hours a day flexible to be discussed
As an Assistant MDT Coordinator, you will manage cancer service communications, prepare and distribute MDT lists, and assist in tracking patient pathways against national targets.
You will work closely with clinical teams and external trusts to maintain accurate patient records and escalate any delays or data quality issues.
Your role includes supporting MDT meetings by ordering patient notes, entering key data, and covering colleagues during absences.
This position requires excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work flexibly across sites and remotely, ensuring smooth and efficient cancer service delivery.

This role involves daily use of the Somerset Cancer Register and other hospital systems to update and validate patient data. You will assist in monitoring cancer waiting times, preparing MDT meeting agendas, and liaising with clinical and administrative teams.
The post holder must maintain confidentiality, comply with Trust policies, and support safeguarding and clinical governance standards. You will provide practical training to MDT Assistants and act as a professional link to the 2WW referral management team.
The role requires strong communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office and Teams, and the ability to prioritise tasks effectively. Physical tasks include moving patient notes for MDT meetings and occasional travel between hospital sites.
