About the role

We are recruiting a Research Assistant to work in the Haemophilia Gene Therapy programme based in the UCL Cancer Institute in the Royal Free Hospital, Hampstead Campus. This laboratory is co-located with the Katharine Dormandy Haemophilia & Thrombosis Centre. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in a unit that has led in the development and delivery of gene therapy for haematological disorders such as haemophilia A and B using adeno-associated viral (AAV) vectors. The candidate will gain experience in purifying recombinant AAV vectors and will support the development of novel assays to investigate the mechanisms of vector persistence, enabling the analysis of tissue samples from gene‑therapy recipients.

This role does not meet the eligibility requirements for a Skilled Worker Visa certificate of sponsorship under UK Visas and Immigration legislation. Therefore, UCL will not be able to sponsor individuals who require right to work in the UK to carry out this role.

The position is available for 12 months.

About you

Prospective candidates must have a BSC in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience, experience working with and analysing large datasets and good organisation skills to prioritise and deliver tasks on time.

The ability to work both independently and be self-motivated/self-starting is essential for the role.

An MSc in relevant discipline and previous laboratory experience in gene or cell therapy are desirable but not essential.
